My name is Vannessa Gastineau. After spending almost 2 years (and counting) working at a local boarding facility I saw a need for in home pet care. Sometimes there are various situations in which a client is unable to use a traditional kennel; some pets just do not thrive outside their home environment, you may have had a last minute emergency & don't have all the vaccines required, or you may have small animals that still need to be taken care of while you are away. Whatever the circumstance may be, an in home sitter is a great option for those who can't, or don't, want to use a kennel.
My qualifications include, as mentioned, 2 years of working in a kennel, with responsibilities ranging from helping clients & checking pets in/out of the facility, to taking pets on walks, giving food & administering medication. I have also been trained in animal behavior. Of course I am also a pet owner. Currently I have two cats & a chinchilla. I've also owned fish & grew up with various breeds of dogs.
I will be obtaining insurance in a few weeks, and in June I will be taking a pet first aid course offered through Red Cross.
